LOAD OF THE WEEK- 12/29/2008

The last week of the year calls for a heavy-duty load.  The wind is pushing drifting snow into CURMUDGEON’S duck blind however he does not want to give it up for the season.  Perhaps a pheasant may cross C’s path.  In any case, a thumping ITX (shot) load is called for.

HULL:  FIOCCHI 12-gauge 3.00” (#0641230)  

PRIMER: FIO616  

PROPELLANT: HODGDON HS6 34.0 Grains

WAD: BP MG42 (#072MG4) plus ¼ 20ga. wool felt(#1221812) in wad base.

 Mica dust wad please.

SHOT:  1-1/4 ounce ITX #2 shot (546 grains).   

BUFFER: None  

FOLD CRIMP: 6-point (Recommended for new hulls).  Over shot, #OS12 card used.

Results:  10800 PSI 1350 FPS

And for the 20-gauge; cold weather friendly

PROPELLANT: IMR PB 20.0 Grains

WAD: Z21(#020Z20)  Mica dust wad please.  

SHOT:  7/8 ounce ITX #2 shot (382 grains).     

FOLD CRIMP: 6-point (Recommended for new hulls).  Over shot, #OS20 used.

BUFFER: None.

Results:  10000 PSI 1335 FPS
