LOAD OF THE WEEK

American Rifleman:

Short & Stout 12ga 2” #4-buck

BPI was asked by Aaron Carter for shorty buckshot loads for this article. This load appeared in Aaron Carter’s article in the December ’17 American Rifleman. Carter describes this load: “Talk about devastating! Best of all, recoil is minimal, and, in the Mossberg, cycling was flawless…Pattern at 15 yds. (30” circle): 100% (20 pellets) Uses: Hunting (deer, feral hogs, varmints, small predators), competition: 3-gun; protection.

Notes: Patterned at 15-yds. Using an 18-11/16” barreled Mossberg Model 500 with a fixed cylinder bore.
*Depending on the system, these loads may (or may not) reliably cycle in semi-automatic shotguns.”
