Helpful hints for best results with Alliant Powder's Black MZ
- Our experience through testing and hunting has been that best results are attained in the 50 caliber muzzleloader using 90 grains volumetric of Black MZ with sabot bullet weights of 240 grains to 260 grains. Good results with 300 grain sabot bullets were seen using between 100 grains and 120 grains volumetric of Black MZ.
- Make sure that the barrel is clean and totally dry (swab barrel with dry patches until there is no evidence of moisture).
- Black MZ functions best when heavily compressed by the seated sabot.

|Have used Blackmz in the following firearms all with excellent results. .451 volunteer ml, 12 gauge cartridge and ml, 1873 & 1876 winchester repos, and .577 Enfield repo. I use black powder loading equivalents and have not had any problems. Velocities are consistent, lots of smoke and easy cleanup. I use this powder in all my firearms. I buy Blackmz from Sportsmans Warehouse for @ nine dollars.|
||Works great even sidelocks and # 11 caps no hang or misfires
|Use this in my 10 ga and 12 ga muzzle loading shotguns and various side lock rifles. Used three pounds last summer with regular #11 caps no hang fires or misfires. Was deer hunting last fall and walking with heavy snow falling, everything got soaked, ruined the rubbed oil finish on a Pedersoli PA rifle, but the powder fired great with no delay. Claim it is virtually non corrosive, that said I always clean guns at the end of a day. Clean up is much faster and others claim to leave guns for days/ weeks with no issues. This stuff leaves very little fouling and that really helps, when even a little blow-by, will create plastic melting problems using steel shot and plastic shot cups. Saved me hours gun of cleaning last fall, and shoots more reliably than real BP or others subs. Five stars plus.|
