Federal new, primed 12ga 3-1/2" hull, Fed 239 primer, maroon tube, skived. Hulls are not regulated under 49CFR Special Provision 50. Note: ***The Federal hulls in 12-gauge 3.5" and the Federal 10-gauge hull new, unfired hulls are made with a new primer. This is the FED239 primer. A string primer designed to give a boost (firm start) to ALLIANT STEEL propellant and other slow burn rate powders utilized in heavy loads. (Thus far, the FED239 primer has not been offered as a reloading component.) It has been found that the FED239 elevates pressures with some of the older loading data which calls for the FED209A primer. Until specific reloading data is generated, on first firing of these hulls made with the FED239 primer, the reloader is advised to reduce the load propellant amount by three grains.
