BPI now offers proof testing for your shotshell loads. Our new testing service will help you evaluate the safety and performance of your hand-loads, providing you with reliable data and peace of mind. To ensure accurate results and the safety of our technicians, we have established the following guidelines:
- Submission Requirements: All loads submitted for testing must include a complete written description, detailing all components used (including manufacturer and materials) and anticipated results. You must also supply a minimum of six shells per lot: five for ballistic testing and one for dissection and component analysis. Proof of paid invoice, or order number, must also be included.
- Shipping: For safety and compliance, all ammunition must be shipped via UPS Ground or FedEx Ground and be properly marked with the mandatory "Limited Quantity" shipping label.
- Testing Exclusions: We only test smokeless powder loads. We cannot accept factory-loaded or industrial-type ammunition, destructive devices, or loads using black powder, black powder substitutes, or brass shotshells. "
- Lab Discretion: The final judgment of a load's fitness for testing is at the sole discretion of our lab personnel. We reserve the right to refuse to test any load. If a test is initiated and the first shot exceeds 25% of the SAAMI Max Average PSI, the test will be terminated, and testing fees are not eligible for refund.
Ammunition Requirements:
- We only test shotshells. We cannot accept any ammunition shorter than 2 inches.
- We do not test 8ga or 32ga shells.
BPI is committed to providing you with a high-quality, reliable testing service. Use reliable loading data and credible sources when preparing your loads for submission. If you have any questions, please contact our testing team.
