Chatellier's Rare Game Sauce (17 oz. jar)
For many years, the distinctive flavor of Chatellier's Rare Game Sauce has generated a cultlike following in the northeast U.S., where it was created in 1977. The sauce was the creation of John Chattellier, a lifelong hunter who grew up during the Great Depression, when, he explains, "a lot of game was on the dinner table out of need." He created his unique sauce originally to make broadbill ducks palatable. "They're tough and taste lousy," John quipped.
So successful was his recipe that friends and acquaintances began requesting it, finding it an outstanding complement to waterfowl, upland game, venison, and domestic meats of all types.
Flavor profile: unique and slightly sweet, slightly tangy, with a pleasantly spicy finish.
The recipe that has pleased connoisseurs for over 30 years remains unchanged. It remains the one sauce that "makes any game good."
