GAEP Deep-Neck Roll Crimper for Slugs 12ga
This rotational crimper creates a deep roll turn over to create the high shell wall necessary for many slugs. The form of this crimper rolls over the plastic hull and turns it downward, creating a factory finish for your slug loads. Use with the Universal Arbor (sold separately) for hand drill or drill press along with a Hull Vise. Also for use in GAEP loading machinery.
* IMPORTANT NOTE ON RPM: GAEP crimp heads are optimized for operation at 1100 RPM, which is the standard speed for their motors. Many hand drills and some drill presses do not reach this rotational speed. If you experience crimping issues with GAEP products, the first step is to verify that you are operating at the correct speed.

BACKGROUND AND HISTORY:
The shotshell industry of Northern Italy is likely the oldest in the world. With the founding of major gun manufacturers, such as Beretta in 1526, cottage industry businesses sprang up around these areas. Gunsmiths, toolmakers, and ammunition specialists of all types helped to fuel innovation and invention. Like Italian cuisine, art, and architecture, ammunition and toolmaking are powered by passion and innovation. We are proud to be GAEP's appointed distributor of their fine loading products for North America. Our line of GAEP products will continue to grow and expand.
GAEP is an artisan manufacturer. Each tool requires painstaking hand-made precision. Our goal is to maintain a regular stock of as many of their products as possible. However, the logistics of their artisan production and the reality of importation from Italy means that we will have stock gaps from time to time. The best way to assure your order fulfillment is to place an order or back order. You order will not be charged until your product ships to you.

Beautiful tapered crimps | 11/1/2024 |
This thing makes wonderful looking tapered roll crimps! Like the other reviewer mentioned it needs Vaseline and higher rpm’s used in a drill press.

Whenever we hear of problems, it seems that GAEP and OMV crimpers are being run at low RPMs. They need to spin fast and they need just a dab of lubricant. Then they produce perfection!

BEAUTIFUL FEDERAL LIKE TAPERED ROLL CRIMPS, NEED A DRILL PRESS,1630RPM | 12/31/2021 |
I used a hand drill and BP’s duel pin crimper at first and it worked pretty good and easily. So I was curious and bought this crimper to try. Well it sat around for a few months before I actually FINALLY tried it, with a hand drill. Well the hand drill DID NOT serve me well AT ALL. I could not get this crimper to roll in, it would just put a taper on the hull, but not turn over for the life of me. Contacted BPI thinking I may have a Lemon or something. I never got a response back from them after 3 emails. Don’t know what happened there, I know they’re busy like everyone else. But Anyway ONTO THE GOOD! So I broke down and bought a cheap Harbor Freight drill press, got it home, assembled it, chucked in my GAEP DEEP NECK ROLL CRIMPER, made up a couple shells, hit the crimper with a cotton swab of Vaseline, put my shells on the drill press, started to crimp the shell slowly to build a little heat, and BAM it started producing a BEAUTIFUL TAPERED PERFECTLY ROUNDED ROLL CRIMP. I was absolutely amazed at the quality of Crimp this produces. If you’ve ever seen Federal’s Tapers on some of their buckshot rounds and such, that’s the type of tapered Roll Crimp this GAEP produces. So let me just say , I have my drill press set at 1630 RPM, the belt is on the middle 3rd pulley down. So I guess these crimper need fairly HIGH RPM to do their job right and some decent lubricant Vaseline works great, cheap too. I’m Glad I got this GAEP CRIMPER to work. I was worried I had a $50 paper weight at first. So just know THIS TOOL DOES WORK, AND WORKS VERY VERY WELL!! 1630RPM, lubricant, and. A DRILL PRESS!! BP you may wanna put something like that in the description, because like myself I was used to a hand drill and expected the same result with this tool. DRILL PRESS WITH MODERATE RPM and VASELINE.
