Detailed Description

SG28S Sporting 28-II wad (250/bag)
(Photo L to R: HV28, SG28II, Original SG28, BW28)

The SG28-II is an updated model of the SG28 wad that has been a favorite of European field shooters for many years. It is designed to load 5/8 oz to 7/8 oz loads. The progressive crush section allows this wad to be loaded in either 2-3/4" or 2-1/2" cases.

This is a great wad for long-range 28 gauge shooters. We have also used this wad to great advantage in sporting clays events. The best range for this wad is approximately 25 to 55 yards.

We suggest light loads of fine shot, #8-1/2 to #9. Most of our loads are 3/4 ounce. Fine small shot encourages maximum coverage in a smallbore pattern.

Unsuitable for 3/4 oz loads without filler wads 4/28/2023
Very disappointed for use in my Fiocchi hulls. Stack height is way too low for 3/4 oz of shot, like 3/8 to 1/2 inch, depending on what powder you are using. I dont like the idea of having to buy filler wads. I should have gotten the original wad instead.

The wad you need for lighter shot charges is the original SG28. Just call our helpful staff. They are ALWAYS eager and able to solve problems. It's even easier than leaving a review! :)

Beware with 7/8oz load. 1/9/2022
If youre going to use these wads with a 7/8oz load, you have to realize that the shot cup only holds 5/8oz of shot so, that means a full 1/4oz of shot is not protected by the shot cup.

Not a bad wad. 4/29/2014
Be careful when loading with this wad in the 5/8 to 3/4 oz range. You need a OS card. The manual calls for it and it is a MUST for a tight pack. Its better with a 7/8 oz load.

SPORTING 28-II WAD 3/23/2013
Awsome wad! It is very versatile from grouse to pheasants there is a load with this wad for it. High velocity 3/4 oz. loads are amazing with this wad.

Great wads. Been loading 7/8 oz. #7 for huns and chukars and it kills them quick and clean. Patterns amazing with light modified and improved modified in my O/U. Highly recommended.
